Heavy Fighting

Armoured fighting or Rattan Fighting or Heavy Fighting or SCA Fighting is a full-contact sport created to simulated medieval armoured battles.

Instead of metal swords a rattan stick is used, so the impact is real but, with correct protection, doesn't hurt any more than giving an occasional bruise.

In Finland the age limit for participating in tourneys and wars is 16 (with guardian's permission), but one is allowed to participate in fighter practice earlier. More or less regular trainings are held at least in Helsinki, Hämeenlinna, Tampere, Kouvola and Turku. Contact the baronial marshal to get the details.
